What is CCTV?
Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) is another name for video surveillance and is typically used as a security measure in banks, stores-fronts, businesses and in private residences.CCTV surveillance cameras capture real-time footage of the premises which is sent to a centralised location.Footage captured using CCTV is done so on a private network over the internet, so it is secure and not publicly available.Captured footage may be recorded and retained as needed.
What are IP cameras?
IP (Internet Protocol) cameras are a form of digital camera that captures video footage.
The benefit of IP cameras is that the captured footage does not need to be stored on a device co-located with the camera. Instead, cameras can be placed anywhere, and all recorded footage is transferred securely over the internet and stored at one centralised location which does not need to be near the cameras.
